Mr. Jayson Michaels is an internationally renowned dancer, teacher, choreographer and producer. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of "Jayson Michaels'Energy Source Dance Camp." Mr. Jayson is trained in all forms of dance including American Smooth and Rhythm, as well as Theatre Arts. He is the director/choreographer for the Energy Source National Dance Company which performs benefits yearly for various charities. The Energy Source Dance Camp has become the foremost training program for dancers of all ages and one of the few organizations with serious dance training for students 4 to 8 years of age.
Mr. Jayson is well-versed in all aspects of teaching and choreographing. He instructs ballet, lyrical, jazz, partnering, musical theatre, hip-hop, and floor barre technique. His dance career has afforded him the opportunity to travel the world with dance companies in exotic locations including: Greece, Cyprus, England, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Iraq, Jordan and the Bahamas. Mr. Jayson was the director/choreogapher/producer for "An American Music Review." He danced in the world premiere of the ballet Pinocchio, where he originated the role of Geppetto. Mr. Jayson has worked with Rebbie and LaToya Jackson (Michael Jackson's oldest sisters). He was a lead dancer in Rebbie's videos Centipede and Reaction. With LaToya he was a back up dancer for her nightclub act.
Mr. Jayson was choreographer for the Houston Gamblers Highrollers and the Cincinnati Ben-Gal Cheerleaders. With the Cincinnati Ben-Gals, he was assistant choreographer for the half-time show at Super Bowl XXIII. He was also the director and choreographer for a television special called "A Run Through the Jungle," which featured the Ben-Gals.
Mr. Jayson has danced with the Glenn Hunsucker Dancers, Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Theatre, Mid-Tennesse Ballet Theatre, Delia Stewart Dance Company, Galveston Ballet, and the Ted Davis Modern Dance Collective. Having performed on many cruise lines as lead dancer/singer/choreographer, a few of Mr. Jayson's credits include Discovery, Dolphin, Majestic, Sea Escape and Royal Caribbean.
Mr. Jayson's musical theatre credits include: Mordred in "Camelot," Harry Beaton in "Brigadoon," Bernardo in "West Side Story," Timothy in "Strike Up the Band," lead dancer in "Hair," Chief Wild Horse in "Annie Get Your Gun," Santa Anna in "The Lone Star," Ruben in "Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," and Tulsa in "Gypsy," to name a few.
Mr. Jayson's American television shows include: Soul Train, American Bandstand, Kicks, Hot City Disco, Don Kirschner's Rock Concert, Midnight Special and Dance Fever with host Adrian Zhmed. Mr. Jayson won the Ohio State Finals for Dance Fever and placed second in the national finals. Mr. Jayson has also performed on television shows in Jordan, Jamaica, Greece, Cyprus and Italy. He was featured dancer in several national MTV commercials for David Berman Films. Mr. Jayson is a Salsa Champion ranking second place in the Midwest finals.
While working in Kenner, Louisiana at The Dance Factory, Mr. Jayson had the honor of teaching former Miss Dance Louisiana, Loren Fenerty, as well as Brittny Spears who was a student at the studio as well.
Mr. Jayson has taught on the faculties of Dance Olympus, Lafayette Professional Dance Teacher's Association, Miami Valley Dance Teacher's Association, Dance Teachers United, Showstoppers Dance & Drill Team Camps, Just 4 Kix Dance & Drill Team Camps, Ray Hollingsworth Dance Troupe, the Southern Association of Dance Masters of America and The Energy Source Dance Camp.
Mr. Jayson was invited to teach master classes and choreograph the closing production for the Black College Dance Exchange, which included dancers from each of the historically black colleges in the United States. Mr. Jayson is only the second non-black to be invited to work with this highly esteemed organization.
While fulfilling a guest artist residency in La Paz Bolivia, South America, Mr. Jayson won two outstanding choreography awards from the Bolivian National Dance Council. The Capezio Ballet Company competed for the first time ever with Mr. Jayson's pieces and won first and second place respectively. |
